COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS

MINORS
Federal law regulates the minimum age (14), type of occupation, type of documentation required and maximum number of hours of employment for minors.
An agency may have a specific policy relating to the employment of minors.

MINIMUM AGE STANDARDS
For nonagricultural occupations:
- 14 - Minimum age in specified occupations outside of school hours and limited in amount of time each day and week.
- 16 - Unlimited number of hours in any occupation not declared hazardous by the U.S. Secretary of Labor.
- 18 - Minimum age in occupations declared hazardous by the U.S. Secretary of Labor.
