COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS
As of July 1, 2021, some State employees are covered under Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), see the Division of Human Resource Management, Labor Relations Unit page for more information. If you are in a job classification currently covered under a CBA, some of the terms and benefits of your employment may be different than the provisions outlined on this page. Please consult your CBA or agency's human resource for further information.
LAYOFF/REDUCTION IN FORCE
Layoffs can happen due to reasons such as:
- Shortage of work or money;
- Elimination of a position;
- Changes in duties or the organization; or
- An employee being restored (e.g., promoted, lateral or comparable transfer).
Employees who are not permanent are laid off before permanent employees. Permanent employees are selected for lay off based on seniority.
Permanent employees who are laid off have reemployment rights.
See the Division of Human Resource Management's Layoff Information page for more information on layoffs.
