VETERAN HIRING PREFERENCE
VETERAN-RELATED HIRING PREFERENCES ARE APPLIED BY STATE RECRUITERS
Under Nevada law, certain applicants may be eligible to receive a hiring preference. To receive a preference, applicants must submit documentation establishing their eligibility. Veteran-related hiring preference categories include:
- Veterans with a service-connected disability (highest preference)
- Veterans
- Widows or widowers of a service member killed in the line of duty while serving on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States
- Current members of the Reserves or the Nevada National Guard
- Widows or widowers of a veteran
Applicants may qualify under more than one veteran-related preference category; however, preferences cannot be combined. The highest applicable preference will be applied.
