COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS

As of July 1, 2021, some State employees are covered under Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), see the Division of Human Resource Management, Labor Relations Unit page for more information.  If you are in a job classification currently covered under a CBA, some of the terms and benefits of your employment may be different than the provisions outlined on this page. Please consult your CBA or agency's human resource for further information.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)

The State's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides support, resources and information for personal and work life issues.  Services are confidential and provided at no charge to qualifying employees and individuals in the employee's household.

Services include clinical counseling, financial information and resources, legal support and resources, work-life solutions and critical incident stress management.

Click on below headings for more information on the topic

OVERVIEW

MANAGEMENT REFERRALS

Mandatory management referrals of employees to the EAP are only made for statutorily required reasons (i.e., alcohol and/or drug offenses).  Mandatory referrals are typically made by an agency's human resources staff.

In some circumstances, it may be appropriate to remind an employee of the EAP benefit.  It is not recommended to try to diagnose the source of an employee's performance or conduct.  If a supervisor has a concern regarding an employee's performance or conduct, he or she should contact his or her agency's human resources staff.

CRITICAL INCIDENTS

A critical incident is a significant and distressing situation that impacts a work group (i.e., more than one employee) and can include situations such as natural disasters, line of duty death, suicide or layoff.

Critical incident intervention services can include education, briefings, debriefings, defusing, counseling and follow-up.

Critical incident services may be obtained by an appointing authority by contacting KEPRO at (888) 319-8282.
