Classification and Compensation


Classification

The Classification unit is responsible for classifying positions within the current classification plan; conducting occupational studies, job specification maintenance reviews, individual classification studies (HR-19), and position audits; and maintaining and distributing the Classification and Compensation Plan per NRS and NAC 284.

Compensation

The Compensation unit is responsible for conducting wage and benefit surveys in compliance with State and federal requirements. This unit provides regulation consultation on compensation issues, and ensures that Accelerated Salary Requests (HR-4) or Temporary Adjustment to Salary (HR-5) requests comply with respective requirements established per NAC 284 and collective bargaining agreements.

    Business Partners

    The Classification and Compensation Section provides expert advice, technical guidance, training, and policy support to all departments under the Executive Branch concerning classification and compensation related matters. The primary objective is to obtain a positive working relationship with our business partners.
