An employee may not be reappointed to underfill a position at grade 30 or higher if the position has a higher grade than the position the employee holds.  The grade of the class an employee is reappointed to may only exceed the grade of the class he or she formerly held or a comparable class if the former or comparable class has been reallocated to another grade or class.

An employee who is reappointed to a class at a higher grade level must serve a trial period unless it is waived by the appointing authority.
