Probation is a set period during which an agency evaluates the skills, work habits and general suitability of a new hire or voluntary transfer who has not reached permanent status. An employee may be dismissed for any lawful reason during his or her probationary period and has no appeal rights.
Classes at grade 19 and below serve six months of full-time equivalent probation. Classes at grade 20 or higher serve one year of full-time equivalent probation.

REPORTS ON PERFORMANCE
A report on performance must be conducted for a probationary employee in a class at grade 19 or below at the end of the 2nd and 5th months of employment.
A report on performance must be conducted for a probationary employee in a class at grade 20 or higher at the end of the 3rd, 7th and 11th months of employment.
If a permanent employee is demoted, a probationary period is not required.
If a probationary employee is demoted, a new probationary period will be required.
TIME NOT COUNTED TOWARDS COMPLETION
